Project EIGHT - HOUSTON, 2009

Project Overview: The homeowners had recently moved into this two-story home and wanted to create a relaxing living space with clean, modern lines.

My design idea was to create a soothing, contemporary space with Asian influences. To accomplish this, I used a neutral palette for the walls, with chocolate-brown and sage green as accent colors. This earthy combination produced the overall feeling of soothing relaxation. To further enhance the Asian influence, red was used as a main accent color in a couple of key decorative accessories which created energy and harmony in the space. I also brought in five Feng-Shui elements: metal, wood, earth, fire and water.

The rich, silk drapery, embroidered with oriental designs, was custom made for this project. I utilized bamboo, orchids, and natural candles to enhance the Zen-like energy of the space. The homeowners' vision was realized, and they were delighted with the peaceful oasis that they now called home.

Much of this project was custom-made: The drapes and valances, the paintings, flower arrangements, accent-chair upholstery, and the "faux-stone" painted fireplace were all custom-made by me specifically for this project.
