Project THREE - Miami, 2003 |

Project Overview: The homeowner of this studio apartment wanted to transform the space into something dramatic and theatrical. There was no budget for purchasing additional furnishings or décor. To stay within the given budget, I re-arranged the existing furniture, used vibrant colors and rich fabrics, and created a new focal point for the space – the beautiful view, which had been hidden. To accomplish this, I eliminated the existing blinds and framed the window with rich drapery, making the incredible view the focal point of the room. This studio apartment included a Murphy bed, and also a statue of a dancer, which was the prized possession of the homeowner. I combined these elements by transforming the Murphy bed into a “theater stage” for the ballerina, allowing this area to dramatically enhance the rest of the space. The balcony needed some work – with a splash of color and creative vision, this area was transformed into another beautiful, relaxing living space. |
